Preparing Exhibit for Eastern States ExpositionThe Eastern States Exposition is a combined state fair for the 6 New England states, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.  It has been called "The Big E", but not in the days of the A.C. Gilbert Co.  According to Wikipedia, it is the largest agricultural event on the East coast and the seventh largest state fair in the country.  During its years of operation, the A. C. Gilbert Company was apparently a mainstay of this event.  The Ray Mohrlang Collection of photographs contains many photos of this event, not all of which can be identified.  Initial examination and research related to these photos has revealed that they cover four layouts from the years, 1948, 1952, 1959, and 1963.  Click on the photo at the left or the button above to see a photo album of those images.
